I set it up and it worked at one point but would lose connection every 15 minutes now its just limited or no connection. I have a cable modem and a Netgear wireless router. I keep unplugging and shutting down then going through that whole process but still no internet with it. Is it possible that the location in the house and connectivity have something in common with this? Please help me out here :)

The actual computer the modem and wireless router are connected to is not getting an internet connection. Its not the laptop. So Im not sure what to do as far as that goes.

Because you have a Netgear router. I had the some problem with a netgear router until I throw it against the wall in anger, and went out in bought a different brand. Hardly get dropped now, except when all my neighbors wireless routers interfers with my signal

Try moving the router to a different place. Check all the cables going into the back of the router. The cables that come with netgear routers are pretty cheap. If moving of the router doesn't work, remove and replace the cheap cables.

It could be because your computer isnt receiving an IP address from the router when it connects. After you see the connection icon in the system tray, click on it and click on properties, click on Internet Protocol TCP/IP in the list, and click on properties. Make sure the IP and DNS are set on automatic assignment. At least, thats the way I think it works...
