We had an open house for our neighborhood association this afternoon and for fun and a conversation sustainer, I mentioned the article and asked 50+ people if they cared about this. The tally? None. Yahoo is accessed by 10's of millions of folks who know of Princeton, but don't give it a second thought. Besides, the rankings are completely subjective. Must have been a slow news day.

Well, depends on who you talk to. 50 people clearly isn't enough to represent how everyone thinks. If you asked me, I would care since I'm going to college soonand Princeton is possibly one of my choices. If you asked college admissions officers--especially from either Princeton or Harvard--they obviously would have cared. People do care about rankings and reputation of universities.
