You're crying - When you cry, tears come out of the tear glands under your eyelids and drain through the tear ducts that empty into your nose. Tears mix with mucus there and your nose runs

When you cry, some of the tears go into those little tiny holes in your lower lid, right on the inside corner. Then they drain through a passageway into your nose. It's a normal biological process, although I'm not sure what if any beneficial purpose it has.

it is all to do with the make up of ones face. the ears nose and throat are all inter-connected, if you get earache your teeth hurt, if you get blocked sinus you get a headache, due to where your tearducts are situated [ in the corner of your eye next to your nose] when you cry your nose will also produce moisture and phlegm at the back of your throat. the more you cry the more that is produced, it is all done to prevent those areas drying out, whilst you are crying.
