Well there was a substantial threat from previously unknown Al Qaeqa to United States as by 1997 Osama Bin Laden openly declared jihad against the west. Two days before 9/11 Afghan legendary revolutionist Ahmad Shah Massoud was assassinated which stirred undercover CIA personnel stationed in Middle East and Pakistan.Although there were clear indications about an upcoming attack but there was no direct hint of actually using airliners before 9/11.Lot of intelligence inputs suggested attacks on US landmarks(including financial district of NY,San Fransisco, and Los Angeles), plane hijacking and attack on subway stations in NY. But no one had an idea of hijacked planes would be rammed into the towers and damage would be that extensive.

While I don't think Bush was warned specifically on that, I do believe that there were bits of this and that intelligence going to him regarding bin Laden's intentions prior to the attacks. But while I put more blame on the CIA and FBI for not talking to each other more often and connect the dots, I also do blame Bush for taking a month of vacation and not spending more time reading his memos.

The organ grinders who started the whole thing off with the first Gulf war knew there would be all sorts of ramifications like 9/11 and 7/7 down the line but they didn't care. Your question is like asking if the monkey is at fault because the organ grinder spends all his money on booze, of course not! W has enough trouble walking in a straight line!

Yes, it has been covered that he was warned in August 2001. This is a very old story. I read about this a couple of years ago.

No! If he had known it could have been prevented. The prevention of such a major act would have been a great political advantage for him. Knowing about it and doing nothing has no positves and only negatives for a politician.

He was not aware, as the person who brought that information to his higher ups, had his idea squelched.. It never did get to the highest authorities. This was brought out by the 9/11 commision..Where were you you when all this was going on?

He may have been told of the possibility along with hundreds of other possibilities. That would not mean he wanted it to happen or could have prevented it. I am not a Bush fan, just wanting to be truthful.
