Why not, I've never heard of people dying from a marijuana overdose. Cigarettes and alcohol kill more people everyday but are still legal.

Yes, I believe that it should be legalized. People that are "hard core addicts" are NOT "weaned" on marijuana! LOL
People say that marijuana is a "gateway" drug. But when I was younger, I smoked it. I never went on to any other drugs. So I can't agree that it is a "gateway" drug. I guess that cigarettes are too since I smoked cigarettes before I ever smoked pot. I think that all of this is more nonsense from the same idiots who call drug addiction a "disease". They are looking for an excuse. STOP IT! And how many DUIs were pot-related? Yet alcohol is legal and people are killing people everyday when they drink and get behind the wheel of a car.
I doubt if marijuana will ever be legalized, but it really should be.

Should alcohol be legalized? (Oh wait, it is!) Should cigarettes (tobacco) be legalized? (Oh wait, it is!) There are a lot of addictive substances that are legal, and a lot of more dangerous substances that are legal. While I'm not necessarily in approval of using drugs to foster an altered state of being, I'm not sure that our government's money is best spent monitoring the usage of a substance that does little additional harm over other things that *are* legal. So while I do not approve of the use marijuana, I do think our nation may reap some benefits in the reallocation of money and manpower if it is legalized.

YES!!! And I never touch the stuff! The reason it remains illegal is the politics of harvesting marijuana. If alcohol and tobacco are legal with all of their devastating consequences, the relatively harmless weed should be legal too. It's true that it is a gateway drug, but so are cigarettes and alcohol. Once the government figures out a way to tax it and regulate it, they will legalize it.

Cannibis...of which there are many species...of which only two of yet has been singled out for illegalization...is a plant...originally, a wildflower/weed/meadow grass, just like any other plant being.
It's illegalization was an effective money-making scheme by the powers that be...and still is today. Prohibition of man-made alcohol products was overturned because it made more money in retail & was easily controllable afterwards...they haven't yet found the same value in overturning the laws on marijuana, and until such time, it will remain as is.
However...it is still a plant...one of the mildest of ethnobotanicals on our planet...there are flowers in your garden & the roadside more "deadly" than this. And yes, I vote to stop it's persecution & that of those who know how to use it wisely...at least as wisely as those who consume alcohol or prescription chemical drugs.

All drugs should be legalized, aside from date-rape style drugs.
As an ex-pot smoker I can say that Marijuana is no more potent (and probably less so) than alcohol, so it makes no sense to me that one would be legal and the other illegal.
I have a problem with a government and society that wants to micromanage my life. I'm penalized when I don't wear my seatbelt. Who is hurt when I don't wear my seatbelt? They want to punish me when I do drugs. Again, who does this hurt?
The focus should be on actions that harm others (i.e. drunk driving, robbing people, raping, etc.).
Besides, the governement could make a hell of a lot of money if they were to tax marijuana sales like they do alcohol and tobacco. But no, they choose to spend gobs of money on arresting, prosecuting, and jailing users, sellers, transporters of this relatively benign product. Doesn't make sense.

It should be legal to use in your own home if you are 21 years old just like beer. Kids shouldn't do drugs.
I love reading all the crap from kids who know nothing about it. I love it. It is a great way for a physically and mentally healthy person to wind down at night after a long day of work and stress.

I say legalize it, I have never tried it and never will and I'm 35, but I figure after the government taxes the hell out of it, maybe some of those high taxes I pay on things I do like will go down allot. cause the ones who smoke pot now won't stop just cause of some taxes, if it is legal.

why shouldnt it be legal? if u want it you can find it. everyone knows someone who holds or deals...u shouldnt have to go to parks or ppls houses for pot it should be sold at the drug/liquor stores. yes it is a negative thing...its like alcohol..good for society? hell no, but if u take it away (prohibition) things get much worse( capone) weeds the same thing...grow houses are run by organized criminals to make a buck (or billions) n sometimes they intimidate ppl into making them allow the pot to be grown in their basement for a small share of profits n if they are caught the homeowners get busted not the criminals behind them. (and they cant rat or other family members go missing)...so why not legalize? afraid of a few more burnt out kids in highschool? or do law enforcement agencies create jobs for officers n politicians get a piece of the drug money n votes ...? hmm? I wonder?
