I was discussing this with my mom today as we wheeled our $100 cart of groceries and other assorted sundries out of the store and got curious about the most anyone spends buying groceries, household items, etc.

Depends on the week. My husband, daughter and I now spend about $125 week on food and sundries. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We used to spend more like $275+ week but then I left my job to be a stay at home mom. We are more realistic now. We used to want to be sure we had everything possible we might crave so that we wouldn't have to go out again. And never dreamed of running out of anything.

So now, we only buy from the Wholefoods what is absolutely necessary. Then we buy small amounts of fresh foods, like, what we'll actually eat. And if it's not on sale and not essential, we pass until it it's on sale. It's offering us more variety actually. And if we run out of something, we'll survive until next week. Who'da thunk? Kind of cool.

omg, I think that just going into the store with a list of 5 items usually turns into atleast $90-$100.00. just because since I'm already there I might as well get "just-one more thing" right....I think the most is about $400 only because I did my grocery and shampoo, toiletries, laundry detergent, etc. items in the same trip. My grocery bill alone usually averages $200/wk

I spend about $325 every six to seven weeks for groceries. The only things I buy in between those six to seven weeks are things like hot dog buns and milk which need to be fresh. I have a large freezer and stock up. Works out cheaper that way.
