and im not old enough to get a job and im trying to save up for a video camera that costs $300 that they wont get cuase they suck!

its not fair! what would happen if i was at the mall and they wander away from me! i dont have a cell phone so i have to look at stuff while waiting and then they yell at me for wandering away!

Yup, that sounds like me. I really wanted a phone and my parents said no. I started carring around a fake phone i made out of tin foil. I Then i told my parents the facts. I would only use it in case of emergancys, or call to my friends on the weekends. What brand phone do you want to get? If you get version wireless, and if your friends have a verison then you can talk to each other on you cells for free anytime. Try it. Also i got a pretty nice phone out of that. As far as make up goes, they dont want you to wear make up, but they cant stop you from wearing it. Borrow some from a friend and try it. if your parents will yell at you. and you want to wear it to school put it on on the bus and bring wipes and wash it off when you leave. I'm 13 too, so i know you pain. 8th grade!! Hope this helps!!

While I can understand your reasons for a cell phone, you are acting REALLY immaturely by, as we call it here in Australia, "chucking a tantie" - eg, it's not fair!! They suck! I really want one!!! - that's not going to get you one, honey. You need to present your argument properly. Don't ask for a phone and a camera in one month; only ask for the phone OR the camera, depending on which one you want more. Why do you need a video camera anyway? Tell them you'll get a standard pre-paid phone. That way, if you have a pre-paid phone card you won't be running up any bills, because once you've used up the credit, you can't use your phone anymore. I'm 14 and have had my pre-paid mobile for nearly three years... I put $30 on my phone now and again and that lasts me about 1.5 months - 2 months, which is pretty good. It's not an ongoing thing and I never have to worry about getting a whopping big bill at the end of every month. Unless you can pay the bill yourself, get a pre-paid. Seriously.

Good luck... and I hope you get one!

P.S If you do wear make up, only wear mascara or eyeliner and don't wear it heavily because otherwise you'll look like a ho. If you have even a few pimples on your face, make sure you wash it properly with a cleansing regime and scrub it once a week, because foundation/concealer will make your pimples worse... trust me.

P.P.S: My phone is a standard Nokia 3315... while I'm getting a new one at the end of the year, for a first phone a simple and cheap one such as this is great. Mine cost $98, almost three years ago... and I've never had a single problem. By saying you want an expensive phone to protect you if you get lost or abducted.... your parents will know that's not the truth. Get your average generic mobile - they last longer than those fancy flip camera video internet mp3 things anyway.

You obviously think you old enough to handle these responsibilities. I think at 13 you can handle a cell phone and make-up. What you need to do is SHOW your parents that you are. Tell them that you want to earn money by doing things around the house to pay for your cell phone bill. You can babysit, do lawn work for neighbors, or pet-sit. After you earn enough money to buy a pre-paid phone (or firefly phone) then show them. Do some research on the computer and show then how much it costs and how much you are earning. They will be very impressed. Make sure when you show them and bring this up you have more than enough money for the phone.

Start by telling them your plan. If they say no, then go do it anyways. They're probably just testing you. Don't bring the subject up again until you have the money. Don't worry about the make-up until after the phone.

p.s. cingular has a new phone for kids called firefly or wirefly. Reasearch that
good luck

You know, there are still jobs that a 13 year old can do. Help an elderly woman on your block clean her house, run errands for her or someone else that are close to where you live, mow lawns. If you want a cell phone bad enough, you can use your imagination on what to do to earn money. You don't know what's going on with your parents or their financial situation. Maybe they ran into some money problems. Maybe they don't think you're mature enough to handle any kind of responsibility. You have to show them that you're mature enough and responsible enough to have some ounce of freedom. Maybe they think you're too young to have one. Then again, maybe they forgot they said that they'd get you one when you turned 13. The only way you're going to find out why you haven't gotten one yet is to TALK to them, not to us. They're not mind readers. And you do not need a $300 cell phone. A simple one will do just fine for someone your age. Clothes and makeup aren't that important either. Just because every girl at your school is wearing makeup doesn't mean that you have to also. Think for yourself and don't do things just because everybody else does it. That's how kids get into trouble. If you want the clothes and makeup badly enough, you'll find another way to pay for them too.

Well sweety if you think you deserve a cell phone just talk to your parents. Tell them you are growing into a responsible mature young lady and it is about time that they should trust you with these kind of situations. Tell them that you are becoming older and going to be going places with your friends. And when your out you need a cell phone so that you could be reached at all times and could get in touch with someone in case of an emergency. You should start doing things for the house like chors, volunteer to do stuff for your parents. Do things so they will see how well your growing into responsibility. If you keep it up even after they buy you one you might be able to get that camra or even more...lol

Sounds like you ask for a lot. Even if your parents wanted to get you some of these things, it is annoying when you are constantly asking for things. After awhile they are probably just tuning you out and saying no to anything you ask for. Don't ask for anything for a while. Suck up to them, do everything they ask with no lip. Then when there guard is down, try again. Getting lost at the mall is a stupid reason to need a cell phone. You are only 13 and shouldn't be anywhere alone anyway. Just wait. You do not need brand name clothes, they are too expensive. As for makeup, just ask for a little eye shadow and lip gloss at first. And do not put on too much. Once they get used to seeing you with it, they won't even notice and they may let you get more. You absolutely do not need a $300 video camera. If you want the make up and clothes so bad tell you will pay for it and use the camera money.

Save up your money and then go buy a prepaid cell phone with your parents approval. Be responsible with this phone then later on down the road revisit the issue with your parents. When they see how responisible you are they may change their minds. My daugther racked up $400 in charges on our cell phone bill once. This is not be taken lightly. Give your parents a break. They are your parents and you need to respect their decisions. Maybe they can't afford it right now.

Save your Christmas and Birthday money and in the meantime, ask for a Go Phone! omg - I wanted to go to American Eagle and Old Navy and my dad was like, "Those jeans are ripped and faded and they cost $25. My friend gets his jeans for 10-$15. In the Great Depression........" Just be content. They'll come around hopefully. Once you get into Junior High, everyone becomes terribly self conscious. I got really self conscious about everything and now I'm in high school. UGH! Life is hard.

How stop wanting a 300 phone. If you want one you need a cheap one. Your too young to have a 300 phone. If you want one so bad save up your money and buy a track phone. More you ask more you will get an No. I dont blame them for saying no to a 200 to 300 phone that freaking stupid to even ask for you would break it in a week. When your grow up they will get one. I bought my own at 15 and payed for minutes. Maybe you should babysit or do yard work for your parnets and family memeber and get you cheapo phone. Also you dont need a camera phone. They make camera for that reason, a phone is a phone you talk on. Not take pictures with.
