The pears on my tree are ripe and starting to fall off. There is so much fruit to deal with at once, I'm not sure what to do. It seems like if we pick the fruit ripe, the flesh goes mealy very soon. But if we pick them green, will they ever ripen? Anyone have a good suggestion? I'd be very grateful.

Pears should be picked firm and allowed to ripen at room temperature. If you have more than you can deal with, make pear jam or jelly. Can some in pint jars. Give them to friends and family. I'm jealous! The deer usually get mine!
