The answer would absolutely be Mariano Rivera. He is consistenly the best closer in baseball year after year. Not to mention he will most likely be the best closer in baseball history when all is said and done. Here is one fact that should cement him as your correct choice: "Rivera is the all-time major league postseason leader in saves and ERA." Your question stated that it would be the world series. Case closed.

Todd Jones of the Detroit Tigers. He has 33 saves which is 2nd in the AL and a Total ERA of 2 his last 6 games. And who doesn't love gum time?

at what time of his career? i can't say rivera for sure because most games he's saved have really never come with a 1 run lead most of the time he's had at least 2 or 3 (in the series that is-and he's blown plenty of saves in the post season which people seem to forget about)
i'd go with gagne. in HIS PRIME. of course not now.
and i'm a giants fan.

Hello!
Todd Jones leads MLB in games saved this season.
*Joel Zumaya is a good set-up man. He does have 25 holds. But he is NOT the closer.*

Mariano Rivera of the Yankees is almost like a machine. He is not perfect, but he is mighty close.

again georgie why are you so stupid? There will NEVER be another closer like Mariano Rivera. He is always near or on the top season after season and never seems to show his age. He is the MVP of baseball.
