I'd have to say New England. The weather is always changing there so if you don't like the way it looks, you just have to wait a bit.

To me a beautiful place has two meanings. One is a place that a person likes for a specific reason. For example, where two people met or where they have always lived. The second meaning is scenic beauty. I have seen many in this country. I've been to Maui and I've seen Denali in the bright sun. I've been to Homer and to Barrow in the spring and I've seen the northern lights. I seen the Grand Canyon at sunrise on New Years Day and my first visit to Yellowstone was in 1957 before it was "discovered". You have to have seen these places to pick the most beautiful. To me, the most beautiful are our National Parks and the best for scenic beauty is Yosemite Valley. But be sure you see both the valley from the tunnel overlook and from Glacier Point. It is awesome, particularly on a really clear day or at sunset.

I guess everyone's idea of "beautiful" may vary, but for my money, it's a toss up between the following.

The historic area of Charleston, SC - south of Broad St

The Society Hill and Olde City sections of Philadelphia, PA
