“Society” = “big pond” There really is no big pond, just a collective of little ponds. There is a little pond that likes the piercing. There are more little ponds that don’t. You think the president of the United States, for example, is a player in the “big pond” but he exists in a world of personal acquaintances just like the rest of us - it’s just that he manages a public persona. His reality is really a “little pond” too. His friends and family and “insiders” are his little pond. Beware of doing something that will limit your ability to jump into different ponds. Nobody usually gets rejected for NOT having a piercing.

Iv had mine pierced for 12 years now nobody cares about them. some time u get someone say wow is your tongue pierced. but the only time i take mine out is to clean it or a job interview don't think you will get a job by have things like that on your body that they can see. other than that what ever you do don't get in the habit of clicking your teeth with the stud it will do damage. if you feel like you cant stop the habit take it out before you destroy your teeth

The first thing that come to my mind is whether will it cost permanent damage to your taste bud..and piercing make your pronounciation worse..like if u say * i want a drink* it becomes * hi, want a drip* so..i guess it base on individual and not on society..anyway the piercing is on the tongue..just dun go around showing people in public with the tongue out and no one will knows.

It's not a wise thing to do because the mouth has so much bacteria . Because of that , there is a very high percentage your tongue will become infected . Since you only have one tongue , you should take care of it before you get an infection that antibiotics can not cure .

don't do it, you'll regret it later in life, and it might cost you a job. Look at it this way, an employer who has narrowed it down to two equal candiataes on paper for a position but one has a tongue piercing. Guess who will get the job

my daughter is also 17 and she got hers pierced at 16. I think it is just a fab or phrase people go thru just like clothing fabs. Some people say it enhances sexual experience. Personally I don't want mine pierced and hers wouldn't have been if I would of had more say over it.

I'm over 50 and I don't like tongue piercings. I don't think it's perverted; I just don't like it.
To me it says 'I'm rebelling' against society. Just my thoughts.

I am not society...but I know what it implies. I think it is weird that people would want to do that to themselves. I causes damage to the teeth too...so why put yourself through that.
