From my experience it Does Not work. I went into labor with my first child on Dec5 14 years ago. The nurses told me to walk to stimulate dialation. I walked for two weeks straight. EVERYWHERE. They finally enduced and i had a healthy baby boy. Maybe with the second child it works but most likely not with the first. Your not missing out on the sex trick it doesn't work either. GOOD LUCK!!!

Walking and other forms of excessive that are above and beyond your normal activity level might stimulate labor. Sorry to hear you are feeling bad, but if you can manage it, sex and the prostoglandins contained in sperm are some of the best ways to stimulate labor. Keep in mind, though, that your baby and your body are preparing for labor up until the last second, so stimulating it early can be detrimental.

walking can't hurt unless you decide to be outside when it is too hot or decide to go cross country...the last few days are miserable but try to look at it as really getting you ready for the big day...you will be so HAPPY to go into labor because you will finally get some relief and have a baby. walking could be good...I tried stuffing myself with a whole pizza(did not work)

They do say that walking helps the baby to drop! There's also a place on the back of your ankle that when pressed just right can cause contractions. Be careful though, I've heard that it has caused people to go into hard labor fast!

Good luck!

There are MANY things thought to be able to induce labor. Some things work for some people and some don't. Google "inducing labor naturally" and go through some trial and error. Something may work or nothing may work. All you can do is try. If you are as uncomfortable as you sound call your OB and let him/her know. They may induce you.

Oh sweetie, I was 12 days late with my son, and walking did nothing but make me miserable... My doctor ended up inducing labor and then I had him in 45 minutes, so just talk to your doc. and try to store your energy for labor... Congratulations....

I walked every evening during the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy. While I don't think it helped with labor, it did help me feel better during those last miserable days. Hang in there, the payout is worth it!

walking can definitly help induce labor!!!
it worked for me.
walking also helps condition the muscles you will need for labor.
just don't over exert yourself, and don't wander too far from your home.
and remember, DON'T go alone!!!
have someone with you who can help if you need it, or have a cell phone for emergencies.
congrats on your little blessing, and remember, the pain will fade.
blessed be

walking has helped to stimulate my labor, we often recommend sex as a stimulant, orgasm does stimulate the uterus to contract. but be sure not to overdo it. Are you at least 38 wks. You don't want to stimulate labor before you and your baby are ready.

It can help if you are already in active labor, ie, your water has broken, you are having contractions. It will not just make you go into labor.
