It depends partly on her conformation and partly how fit she is. Jumping her high isn't so much the problem; is the ground hard for the landing, and are you in a speed round?
I knew an 11 hand pony that could clear 4' carrying a 6 stone rider, and I knew a friend who's 14.2 pony could clear a 5 bar gate. Both of these animals had goose rumps, and were extremely fit. But the 11 hand wasn't expected to do a clear round of 4' fences. And the 14.2 used to compete in the 3'6" class, because there were 12 or so jumps. When they put the jumps up in the jump off his rider would assess the competition and decide whether to go ahead or not. That was indoors on tan. And my 13.2 pony with me up (7 1/2 stone) could easily clear a round of 3' 6" jumps but again was very fit.

And if she goes lame then you've pushed her too hard.

Your pony will tell you if she is being over-faced. If she goes willingly to the jump, it is not too high.

We used to have pony jumper classes at the big shows, and the jumps were 4'. Most of the pony people went to hunters and there aren't very many pony jumper classes any more (at least where I am).

Dont worry, if your pony is capable of the height, then she wont hurt herself, just keep an eye on her legs, you'll notice if she begins to battle, and dont push her, when a pony is keen t jump its very easy to "overface" them.

At the end of the day, ponies are pretty sensible creatures, they wont do anything that may hurt them - self preservation and all that - so just have fun, and enjoy her, just be sure you dont overface yourself as well.
Oh and dont over-jump her either, this could make her sour.

Happy Riding!!!:)

i would say 3 feet, but liek others said, there have been 4 foot jumper ponies. the pony will l;et you know when its too high. make sure you and she is confident on one height before you raise it though or she and you could fail and thats horrible for confidence.
