not necessarily...sometimes people work hard and they eventually find out it was for nothing...but that's one side...the other side is about hard work being the best way in reaching your goals.
Most people will do what’s easiest and avoid hard work — and that’s precisely why you should do the opposite. The superficial opportunities of life will be attacked by hordes of people seeking what’s easy. The much tougher challenges will usually see a lot less competition and A LOT MORE opportunity.
Strong challenge is commonly connected with strong results. Sure you can get lucky every once in a while and find an easy path to success. But will you be able to maintain that success, or is it just a fluke? Will you be able to repeat it? Once other people learn how you did it, will you find yourself overloaded with competition?

The willingness to do what is difficult is like having a key to a special private treasure room.

Yes, it does, you will get nowhere if you're lazy and a procrastinator. The majority of successful people on this planet got where they got by doing something and being proactive with their careers and lives. As far as hard work ALWAYS paying off...well there might be times were you work so hard for something that doesn't come to fruition. Does that mean that you wasted your efforts? No, because at least you can tell yourself and those around you that you gave it your all and didn't cheat yourself.

Hard work always pays off. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you. But if you put your best effort into a project, it will not only pay in the feeling of a successful accomplishment, but also show others that you are willing to do more than just the requirements of the assignment.

Hard work can teach you much you can't learn any other way. But, hard work of itself when referring to a "pay off' teaches only hard work. Hard work coupled with intelligence and business savvy can, and frequently does, pay off. I have watched many hard workers arrive at their grave sites having left no property behind for their heirs. If you're looking for a financial "pay off' then you'll have to give more than hard work toward that end. It's all about money management, saving, investing, saving, investing, reinvesting, saving, investing, reinvesting, etc. Get the idea? NOTICE that NOWHERE do you find the word SPEND in this advice.

No, It doesn't always. Sometimes someone else takes credit, or someone elses hard work is intrepreted as being more important. Such as developing a new form of enivornmentally friendly energy, then the next day the cure for AIDS is found. One could easily overshadow the accomplishments made.

However, hard work is often rewarded. Promotions, praise, personal satisfaction, monetary rewards (raises, profit sharing) ...

Work hard if the environment is right. If your the only one working hard, and aren't getting anything out of it...its not worth it.

In the end, yes it usually pays off.Unfortunately you will come across some one who won't appreciate what you are doing but if you know you're doing the best you can then that's all that matters.( or should)
Now if your hard work doesn't pay off money wise I'd suggest looking for something a little less strenuous or stressful.

Hard work is but one small part of the equation. Drive, intelligence, ingenuity, grace, style and yes even a smile can help. But, hard work alone does not always pay off- that partly depends on what your definition of payoff might be. And as always don't forget the pendulum of luck.

NOTHING IN LIFE IS EASY... hard work pays off! look at all around you that have become successful on what they are trying to achieve. nothings usually easy, theres always some kind of rocky or twisty road on the way...Hard work is just a fun way of seeing how much discipline you have, and how far you can go with it!

there's a saying which states that there are no short cuts to the good things in life....I believe that's true. If you want something and are willing to work hard for it then it pays off in the best way possible!
