If he is drinking, he is not thinking. It has nothing to do with you, it has to do with him having no self control. If he is a drunk or a very heavy drinker, try AA.

Hello? Drinking and driving? This is one of the dumbest and dangerous things a person can do, for sure. He sounds very immature; are you both young? He may care about you in his own way, but he still has some growing up to do. It's one thing to "be your own man" and be responsible, but to use this line to justify doing stupid things is inconsiderate to everyone involved.
On the other hand - perhaps you really do pick at him a little bit more than necessary? You can't be happy with everything that the other person does - but if something is innocent enough, you can always bite your tongue and let it slide. Pick your battles; this way, when it's a serious issue (like drinking and driving), he'll be more inclined to listen.

He is right when he says he is his own man. It sounds to me though he doesn't like the responsibilities of being a man. When he chooses to go out and drink he must face the fact that he must find away home, not putting you or himself and others in danger. He has to understand that you care about things like this, it is not about you being a *****, it is simply, you care for his well being. If he can't see that then don't give a crap anymore. Let him face the problem when it comes then he will see.

Why get into an arguement over something so petty? He wants some time to himself and just because you are married does not mean you control him. He cares about you but you could be pushing him away.

If you have to ask, the answer is no.
He sounds selfish and immature, and possibly has a drinking problem.
