I often wonder why the family court system doesn't care about the parent's emotional sense of well being, but only what's in the best interest for the child. Don't they realize that two happy parents are what's best for the child? Or even one. But they think that I'm suppose to be ok with them taking control over my child when I have done nothing wrong. What is in the best interest of my child is for me to decide, untill I do something to have that right taken away. My daughter is bounced back and forth every week, and one day soon she will be limited to only weekend visits when she starts school. Her father has many faults and puts her at risk many times along with his family. I and my family have not, but that doesn't seem to matter in family court. So who will get her? The parent who only wants to be a part time parent, or the one who wants to be her full time parent?

I think that no child can be happy unless both parents are happy either together or divorced. My parents divorced and I was unhappy because they could not get along, not because I cared who I lived with or who was better for me. Now as an adult I have 3 step kids who live with me and only see their mom when the courts say they can. The kids are happy enough in my home but they miss their mom and can't understand why they are not allowed to see her. They need someone there for them who is happy with their life . They don't even understand what is best for them yet. Love yur kids and do what YOU know is right for them.

The court cannot consider the emotional well being because PEOPLE LIE. Lawyers lie for people too. I would have a significant problem with a judge who would take my custody rights away because my ex is happy to be away from me. When you walked into that court you gave up the right to say what's best for your child because there is another party who has the same opinion. What's best for the child is to have two parents in the mix along with their grandparents. One would assume you think he has faults or you'd still be married. Whats also good for the child is that you do not try to sour your child against the father. The end result will be that they will make their own decision in time regardless of your opinion. If your opinion goes contrary to to theirs your credibility will go way down in all matters.
