Lots of reason, same as men,
They are scared of being hurt, they have been hurt, sometimes men put them in a situation where they are uncomfortable with the way you are treating other woman, they don't know what you really are doing when you don't answer their calls, a man won't commit leaving the door open for him and other woman,,,,should I go on?

We're fundamentally competitive. But then, so are men. A better question could be: why are PEOPLE jealous? Because I can't think of a single person who hasn't at least once in their life been jealous of someone else. It's just a fact of life.

Personally i think men are waaaaay more jealous then women...but some women go over board due to insecurities. so give her a reason not to be jealous.

why are men jealous? probably for the same reasons. but from my own experience including things that i have done in the past i know how vindictive and the lengths that other women will go to to destroy a relationship. also i thing it depends on how the man acts when he is with another women ie, does he flirt and pay more attention to her than his own partner etc..........

The better question is "Why are people jealous ? " I believe it stems from two primary causes 1. insecuritiy and 2. Being controlling. If one conducts themself in such a way that they are a(good catch) a (good partner) that is worth being with, then there is little else to do to keep a mate. Jealousy is a sick attempt to control another it is poision and will ultimatley backfire in your face.
