I have just watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and even though I am a big Johnny fan I have to say that I prefer the original.

I prefer the original film starring Gene Wilder. Yes it's a mutual agreement that Johnny Depp is a Universal Sex God but it has to be said that he is much more suited to a hot, eye liner wearing Pirate than he is a wacky chocolate-factory owner :)

The original absolutely! As much as I am a fan of Johnny Depp's movies I can't stand Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I like both....I preferred the kids out of the original...and you could never top Gene Wilder looking mad on the boat ride lol.....but if I was to watch it tonight it would be the Johnny Depp one...

I do too. We all prefer the original because we grew up watching it. The only Willy Wonka I knew was Gene Wilder. I read the books, and while I was reading I'd see Wilders' Wonka in my head.
I recently saw the Johnny Depp one, too. It wasn't bad, I'd have to say it was...interesting. But I still prefer the original.

Johnny Depp every time!!!! as a guy to look at, but i prefer the origional charlie and the chocolate factory

Gene Wilder. Very rarely does a remake outdo the original and Johnny's version can't hold a candle to the original.
