This isn't uncommon especially in the summer. Everyone sweats. The sweat lingers in the shoes causing bacteria. Spray the shoes with a disinfectant often even after the smell has gone away. If water has gotten into the shoes it can cause a terrible odor too and is hard to get rid of. If the shoes are washable throw them in the washer but I doubt they are.

Other than that I would suggest the disinfectant.

Smell come from fungus as your wife must sweat in the feet. Wash them regularly and wear "cotton" sock rather than "nylon" that traps sweat and makes the matter worse!!

I bet your wife's feet smell like my mums feet - a mixture of cheese and vinegar! I bet she wears shoes without socks? It will be the type of shoe. I used to work in a job where i wore socks and shoes but then changed to a job where i wore heels without socks. My feel instantly started to sweat and stink! Try putting talc in her shoes in the morning to dry then out. Also, peppermint essential oil works well.

Nice, try soap & water, if not get some of that foot spray.
Also, try to not wear the same shoes everyday, but alternate between 3 pairs in a week. That way it keeps bacteria away & lets your shoes air before you use the same pair again.

HELLO Tim,

EEWWWWWW she may have athletes foot. She could try soaking them in a solution of Tea Tree oil and water three times a day and get some charcoal insoles for her shoes. OR YOU COULD WEAR A PEG ON YOUR NOSE :)

A. She wears pantyhose. This ALWAYS causes foot odor.

B. She wears fake leather shoes. Fake leather or "pleather" can't breath like real leather, so it makes your feet stankie.

C. She just has natural stinkums, and that sucks for you.

Probably hyperhidrosis, which is extreme sweating of either feet, palms or underarms...My daughter has it and uses a prescription called Drysol solution...mainly for her underarms.

Naturally, somebody's sweat is stink, in this case, you have to prepare psychologically. To reduce this, you can just ask to use perfume in addition to cleaning her feet.
