What are the lights that are on the bottom of your door that turn on when you open the door?

What are the lights that are on the bottom of your door that turn on when you open the door?

I am drawing a blank. I hope someone knows what I am talking about. I know the lights on the roof are dome lights, but what about the lights that illuminate the sides of the car in the interior?

ive always heard them called courtesy lights also.
