She is a competitive gymnast. 2 yrs ago she had miniscus surgery. The first hyperextension was to the other knee, but now she has hyperextended the surgery knee twice in a month. She is very commited to her sport, training 16-18 hrs a week. She insists that the pain is only mild, but it is hard to tell, because she knows that if she is in pain both the coach and I will make her rest . What should she do? Once you hyperextend, are you more likely to do it again?

I would ask your family physician this question. He/she would be more suited to answer this than anyone on Yahoo! Answers.

My only suggestion would be to use your best judgement. If you are concerned with re-injury, perhaps you should go ahead and tell your daughter the bad news.
