It takes practice. You want to make a nice thin line, as close to your lashes as possible. Don't put it on inside the lashes - that makes your eyes look smaller. Most of the time, I only put it on the top lid and not the bottom. If you do put it on the bottom, don't trace all the way around your eye. Only go from the middle of your eye, just under the iris/pupil, to the outside corner. If you make the line all the way to the inside corner, it's just too much. Hope that helps somewhat.

As a makeup artist I only like appying eyeliner at the top. But it depends on how you like it. But with liquid I only apply at the top, if its pencil I will apply at the top and bottom, when I apply it at the bottom i start in the middle to the corner. Use waterproof, and brushes. So here are some tips to follow.
Shape and define your eyes with eyeliner after you've applied eye shadow and before applying mascara. Whether you choose a soft line or a dramatic stroke, eyeliner draws attention.
Tips:
Choose an eyeliner appropriate for your eye color. Brown, navy and charcoal accent light eyes well, while brown and plum shades flatter brown eyes. Make sure your liner complements the color of your shadow.
Consider the type of look you're after. Pencil eyeliner gives your eyes soft definition, while liquid versions offer precision and drama. You can also moisten dark eye shadow and apply it with a small, flat brush.
Prepare a cake liner or a dark eye shadow by applying a small amount of water to your brush. Or, if you're using a pencil eyeliner, ensure that you've sharpened the pencil adequately.
Move the wet brush gently through your cake liner or dark shadow. Hold the brush or pencil as you would hold a pen.
Tilt your head back slightly and bring your eyes to a half-open state. This creates a good angle for application, while allowing you to see what you're doing.
Draw a line across the upper lid just above the lashes, from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. If you're using liquid liner, allow it to dry before opening your eyes all the way, or the color may transfer into the crease of your eye.
If you used a brush or a pencil, soften the look by gently smudging the line with your brush, a cotton swab or your finger.
Hope that helps.

I only apply eyeliner on my bottom lash-line because you don't seem much of my upper whem my eyes are closed. I used Stila smudge pots for my eyeliner and put them on with a eyeliner brush then "smudge" with a smudge brush and they don't smear! Your line doesn't look too fake either. They are about $16...which is a lot for some. But if you're looking for a cheaper alternative try physicans formula flat liner...you can either get a thick black line or a smaller one. I use this if I don't want to look so done up and I haven't had any problems with liner.
You could also try a liner sealer but you have to be quick with your line or it'll dry and you have to start over again.
Also I have gotten a really nice affect by lining part of your bottom lash-line about half an inch then stopping then adding the same along the top lash line. It defines your eyes a bit.

There's this great stuff from a mail order company, DHC, called Velvet Skin Coat. A very small amount of this appled with your fingers makes whatever you're using (on your eyes and your whole face) go on a lot more smoothly. (No, I don't work for DHC, I just like the product.) Also, when I do eyeliner, I don't aim for a "line" at the edge of your lashes, which always looks fakey. Try a smudgy effect that extends up into your eyelid. Try brown to grey-brown if your eyes are brown, grey to blue-grey if your eyes are blue or green

Hmm there are a various number of sites that can help you with that, type it into google. But here are my tips::
-avoid too much eyeliner, kohl eyeliner should not be able to be smudged if you are going for a casual look
-don't line your top and bottom and connect them at both ends of your eyes, unless you will look like a racoon slut
-avoid lining your whole eye AND wearing mascara
-avoid lining the eyes and wearing mascara, unless you are going for a heavier makeup look, but when you do do this, try to keep your outfit simple, or else you will look gross and overdone.
Hope I could help!! (p.s. I am a master at eyeliner, including liquid!)

First, get a soft color that compliments your eye color. Hazel eyes do well with deep plums. Blue eyes with brown, green with deep purple. If you must go with black, try soft black or charcoal.
Two of the best ones to try are Revon Colorstay in Raisin or Styli Style in Soft Black(these are waterproof and smudgeproof). You can also try the Almay I-Color eyeliner for your eye color. You can either line both upper and lower or one or the other. If you want a doe-eyed look, then apply to the upper lid line near the lasher which will make them look fuller. If you want a more open eyed look, apply on the lower. You can also alternate two eyeliners from the same shade family, but one lighter than the other to get the looks I mentioned above. You also need to practice, and you will find the look best for you and you will get more comfortable in applying it.

I always put a thin line (top and bottom) and then cover with some powder to keep it from sticking to the top of your eyes and to prevent it from smudging. Got another trick too, when it's cold and your eye liner is really hard to put on......hold it up to a light for a few seconds, not touching the bulb. This kinda 'thaws' it out a little ~ making it go on smoothly.....we keep it cold in our house!! Hope this helps! ♥

Put it on with a brush. Use eye shadow for your liner instead of a stick. Push it into the lashes with the brush. You will get an even line that is only as thick as you make it. You also have MANY more choices for color.

You might want to try dark shadow with an angeld brush. It leaves a clean line and you can wipe it off easily if you mess up or accidentally smear it.
