Well, as an assistant manager, i know what it's like to have a new boss and/or coworker come in and "rain on my parade". I, at first would make ever effort to see the good in them, which would work in a perfect world but that doesn't hold true, so therefor I would do everything in my power to separate myself from that person without affecting the work that needs to be done.
Good luck and keep the faith!

Truth be told it's not about the coworker it's about the job! You are not there to make friends you are there to make money! You will always work with someone you don't like but those are the breaks! Do the Best Job there and ignore your problem until they bother you then handle it accordingly. Good Luck

Tell me about it !
Especially if they talk about you or others and create a hostile work environment.
If you cannot solve it by confronting them directly, see the supervisor or manager. It just depends on what you don't like about the person. If it's a personality conflict, then you most likely will have to learn to get along or find another job.
If the person is creating problems for you, then it may be solved by talking to the person directly or the manager.
Good Luck !

Abraham Lincoln said that when he didn't like someone it meant he had to get to know the person better. The person may just be bad news, but if you work constructively at relating to the person, they could become a positive work friend. You may never really want to hang out with the person, but If you spend your life avoiding people you dislike, you will miss out on what people who may be different from you can add to your life.

Grin and bear it. From personal experience I can't bear it for too long and have quit jobs, but not before asking human resources to intervene if thought the behavior was truly beyond what one should be doing or not in the workplace.

Suck it up and be mature about the whole thing. You only have to be polite when you see the person at work. Hopefully you're not with them all day or it could get hard. Try to think of anything at all you like about that person and just be glad they're not family.

As long as your co-worker is not doing anything to you why worry? If you don't like the person it is your problem.
If the co-worker is doing something to hurt you then talk to the co-worker's boss or to HR.
Or else, find another job.
