So much is done through email and the interenet now a days why can't people just use the good old mail box? I think getting a hand written letter is romantic. I personally love getting things in the mail but it almost seems like a lost cause now. Like there's so many email newsletters. I would love to get something that I can actually hold while I read. Is anyone else missing regular mail like I am?

It isn't going away, at least in the US. The United States Postal Service is still the largest non-military employer in the country.

Here are the numbers (in millions) of the pieces of First Class mail delivered in:

1997, 99,659.9
1996, 98,216.1
1995, 96,295.9
1994, 95,332.9
1993, 92,169.4
(Those are the most recent stats I found.)

You can always print your email and hold it. I so prefer clicking to send to stamping, addressing and licking envelopes, then walking two blocks to mail them! I even pay all but one of my bills online, and the rent I take to the manager. I use two stamps a month, for docs that must be postmarked. (I also happen to be over 50.) And yet the post office is delivering more first class mail each year. (Advertisments are seldom first class.)

My handwriting has certainly suffered, though.

I still use it! I even sent AT&T a $.16 [sixteen cent] check the other day! I still mail cards and notes! I love getting letters from the grandkids.
