First of all, relax hun. Worrying about these contractions are just going to make you overly stressed. I'm sure by now you've mentioned this to your OBGYN (and if you haven't you need a new one that you feel comfortable enough with that you can go to her/him and ask anything). Those are Braxton Hicks contractions and they are no cause for alarm. I'm sure they hurt and scare the crap out of you but it's just your body's way of preparing for the upcoming birth. It doesn't mean that you're going to deliver early, or that the baby wants out. When you feel them coming on just lay down and drink a glass of orange juice. If it's the real thing the pains will continue, if they're Braxton Hicks, they'll stop with a change in your position.
Hope this helps...and congratulations!

if this happens after sex, you shouldn't really have anything to worry about unless the contractions are very severe and/or happen at regular intervals.
the common cause for this after sex is orgasm.
when you orgasm the uterus and cervix contract to help you concieve.
but when making love, use condoms because there is a hormone in his sperm that induces labor (this hormone is given to induce labor in full term patients, i believe it's called pitosin, i had it when i had my little one)
another cause could be the baby moving, or waking up.
when you have sex and orgasm, this makes a gentle rocking motion for baby to enjoy while mommy and daddy have fun.
this doesn't hurt the baby at all.
if you get these braxton hicks a few times a day maybe you're up and about too much.
take a nap regularly during the day and get plenty of rest. don't try to do so much.
congrats on your little blessing!

As always, you should raise these concerns with your healthcare provider. Contractions throughout the later part of pregnancy are common and are called Braxton-Hicks or practice contractions. As long as these are infrequent and irregular you should not have a problem. When they start, drink a big glass of water and lie down. If that makes them stop, they are harmless. Still, keep your midwife or doc informed.

That happened to me alot while I was pregnant with my baby. Its completely normal. Especially if it happens right after sex. My doctor always told me that I should use a condom because the sperm contains a hormone which makes you have contractions. So don't be scared they are completely normal!

Word of advicel, anytime you are having an issue with your pregnancy...go to the hospital labor and delivery and be seen by a doctor. That is what you need to do in this situation or any situation regarding your pregnancy. Good luck and take care.

Two main things to watch for, because their is no foolproof way of not having premature contractions but they are, keeping your fluid levels up and avoiding Vaginal infections.

It might be braxton hicks (look them up on webmd.com if you do not know what those are) it could also just be cramps from your uterus expanding..ask the doc though to be sure.
