Any advice from those who have had experience would be appreciated. I think my idea is good and may get alot of attention but I have no experience setting up a website.

You didn't give us enough information. What are you wanting to accomplish? Make money? Express an opinion? Just get attention?
If you just want a free website, maybe you should check out GeoCities.com. If you want a blog, check out Blogger.com. If you want your own domain name, go to Yahoo Web Hosting and see if the name you want is available.
Will you be working on your own web site? Then read some good books about HTML. If you will be paying somebody else to design and maintain your site, ask some local businesses for recommendations on who they use.. There is a lot of variation in prices and quality.
