it is in Europe, bordered by Austria, capital Budapest, actually once two citys Buda and Pezt on opposite banks of the blue Danube. Once part of a powerful empire, Austria-Hungary, the country fell on hard times during and after World War II, becoming part of the Soviet Union sphere of influence, occupied by Russian troops who brutally suppressed a revolution in the mid 1950's.

I was taught the following about the cause of WW I:

"Austria got Hungary, took a piece of Turkey, and fried it in Greece."
