DEATH! because of the unknown!

2006-08-19 09:49:14 · answer #1 · answered by Msquared 2 · 0 0

Oooooh that's a toughy.

Well..... my own death scares the everliving bajesus out of me. I know that I won't mind after I'm gone because I will just... cease to exist (and how can nothing care?), but my mind has a biiig problem conceiving of not being. Not being able to think, feel, experience, learn, love, etc..... that scares me every time I think about it. In fact, I have to keep myself from thinking about it or else face becoming panicked.

I'm pretty sure that's what I fear the MOST. I also fear a lot of other things like stinging insects, giving birth, my son becoming sick or injured in any way, nuclear war, certain foods, complete powerlessness, people who DO have power deciding to lie and corrupt and manipulate, sociopaths, willfull ignorance, ummmmm, I think I'll stop now.

Most people would probably say dieing because it is unknown. But my greatest fear is being alone. Being alone is like being locked in a cage with nobody to speak to or hold. Being alone is what scares me the most in this whole world. Not having a companion to lean on or feel emotions with. Because you always have people around you but you can still feel that loneliness building up if you don't have somebody to share your innermost secrets with that you don't share with anybody else. Being alone is hard because you feel that you are always falling into something else that you most likely wouldn't have fallen into had there been somebody to catch you from falling. Being alone scares me more than death because death is inevitable. It is going to happen. But dying alone without having that special someone by your side is more scary than just dying.

Life after death, because you never know what will happen. No ones ever come back and said, "Ya bucko, I saw you're aunt Margaret, she's not doing so well." And I also have the inexplicable terrifying fear of people poking my ear. Don't ask me why.

My biggest fear is that I get very sick or handicapped and that I become dependent on the help and goodwill of others especially when my sickness or handicap has to do with losing brain functions and I do not know or fully know who I'm anymore or that I keep forgetting everything.

I fear losing my daughter and dying the most.
I love my daughter with everything in me and I could not live without her. As for dying, I can't explain it, I'm just terrified.

The dark.

I can not stand to be in total darkness. If I can't see what is around me or what a certain noise is, my imagination goes into overdrive and I go into a full blown panic attack.

My No.1 fear is I'll go blind, not gradually, and it will cause me to go insane.

I am frightened of:

1. Carniverous preditor species.
2. Dysfunctional people who carry knives.
3. The capacity of ordinary people to delude, to be deluded
and to delude themselves.
4. The capacity of ordinary people to put immediate gratification
ahead of decisions based on fairness, reason, intelligence,
creativity, optimisation and vision.

I fear closed minds. When these people think they know how we all should live.
