I just started giving my 6 month old baby food and rice cereal. I find that no matter how careful I try to be, he has food all over his clothing and under his neck rolls. I use a big plastic bib, but the food still seems to make it's way around his neck. Any ideas on how to make this less messy or is this just the way it is?

The answer is, you can't. I myself have a two year old and a ten month old. I have found that the easiest way to keep the mess to a minimum, at home anyways, is to have the little ones eat without shirts on. This way, when they are done I can just grab a wash cloth and wipe them down. This keeps my laundry to a minimum as well. With kids who has time to do lots of laundry. If you prefer, rather than wiping them down you could give them a bath after every meal. It really depends on where they get their food, whether it be their faces or their hair.

You can't. Trust me, you'll get used to it, real quick.
My daughter is 7.5 months, and feeding herself cheerios. Have you ever tried to get dried up cheerios out of someone's hair? It isn't easy. I used to be neurotic about her being super clean all the time. Then reality set it. I make sure there is no food on her face/neck or anywhere else on her body, and if her clothes are dirty, oh well. I'm not changing them unless we're going out. Otherwise, I would never stop doing laundry. Babies will make messes, it is an unavoidable fact of life.

congrats new mummy and welcome to the next four years! it can be frustrating that no matter how hard u try the food still manages to sneak into the strangest of places lol, i have twin boys 17 months and trust me on this one if the majority of the food makes it into ur little guys mouth and he is enjoying it dont worry your pretty little head about the mess its not worth the annoyance, and he may pick up on ur anxiety towrad the mess which can make mealtimes unpleasant for all concerned, just go with the flow u can teach him table manners when he needs them

The next FOUR years? Have you ever tried to watch a thirteen year old feed itself?

You could try a high pressure water hose. It makes clean up a breeze! :)

Pretty much just the way it is. It won't be that way forever.
