I wasnt lucky enough to get a nickname in my youth. Moose would have been perfect as I am large and clumsy. As it is, I am stuck with the name Edward (middle name William) so here are my choices.
Ed
Eddie
Edward
Ted
Teddy
Ned
Neddy

Right now I am using Eddie. What do you think (Last name is Stevenson)

Why not simply start calling yourself Moose if that's what you like? You could say "My friends call me 'Moose'". After all, you are your own friend (at least I hope you are), and so it would be true. As soon as one friend calls you 'Moose' then you've got the ball rolling.

However, if you don't like the idea of picking your own nickname that's different than your first name, you can pick one of the choices you list and tell people you what you prefer.

Since you asked, what I prefer is... 'Moose' (I think it's cute :). However, Moose, if you don't want to be called that, I'd say 'Ed' or 'Eddie' sounds good. :)

Sure, Eddie is a fine name. But, you know you don't have to tell anyone you didn't get a childhood nickname. You can call yourself anything you want to. Also nicknames from childhood are rarely something people wish to hold on to. My name is Sarah and my aunt used to call me Scary Sary so I let go of it as fast as I could. Best wishes

Why don't you use the name Liam(short for william)? i had a friend who preffered his middle name Drew rather than his first, Liam. I like the sound of Liam. Not too common but handsome sounding.
