I can do a back handspring on the tramp, but not on the ground. I really want to be able to do it. Help!!!!!

the trick is to whip around right off the ground, make sure to tuck your mid-section, and don't be scared to commit to the hand spring. Then when you reach the top of the arc, turn a little and momentum will do the rest.

At the top of the jump, pull your knees towards your chest. Doing it too early or too late almost always results in failure. Most times, you need to resist the urge to do it too early. Try it on a trampoline to see.

Edit: Oops, this was for a back somersault. The trick on a back handspring is to bring your legs over, which changes your center of gravity and causes you to pivot correctly.
