Note: If you can't get with this question, don't even bother. Ok. Before you even think about keying your keyboard, take a deep breath, clear your mind and try not to be insulting. Ok? Mature people only. Why did I ask this question? Black History month, Native American history Month, Pacific Islander Month, Asian heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage, Saint Patrick's Day and the list goes on. I've heard this more than once. I've heard it on my job. Why isn't there a "White History Month?" Good question. I dunno?
Any thoughts?

We do learn white history everyday. Look inside a history textbook. It's 98% white people. I think it's cool we have months for other races but honestly, I think that history should be more incorporated into our daily lives and not so focused on cramming tidbits of other races into our minds for just 30 days.

There's only 12 months. I don't think we should just pick 12 races/ethnicitys. We need to learn about and be respectful of others races/cultures all the time. IMO

I think it'd be nice to do away with all the race months and just learn more about all races daily.

I don't know, maybe we should celebrate everything!! (Especially pancake week)
National Pancake Week--February 21-27
National July Belongs to Blueberries Month--July 1-31
International Talk Like a Pirate Day (19 September)
Turkey Lover's Month - June
Read A New Book Month - December
National Hot Dog Day - March 30th

You ask a good question. There are celebrations of Black History Month, Native American History Month, etc., because traditionally (for the past hundred years or more) ...the emphasis was on white history. No mention of the contributions of other ethnic groups. In the 1970s, there came more awareness of such contribution and thus, the different history months.

No need for a "White History Month." That was ongoing from the time the country was settled until about the 1970s.

Damn straight! Yes, as of right now the other races are the minority, but not for long. Also, yes, a couple of centuries ago, the "White man" kept Blacks as slaves, ,but don't you realize that in their own countries, there was also slavery? It just was done by the Black to the Black. Black people were not the only race is history to be held as slaves, see the American Indians for example.
Yes, there should def. be a White history month, as there should also be a W.E.T (White Entertainment Televison), seeing as there is a B.E.T. Of couse, a person would get accused of racism in these instances.

I think its a good idea. But then again, isn't most history in school based on what the whites have accomplished. So its kinda like white history year. If you have a white history month it might be just about information that you are already learning and celebrating all throughout the year.

Every day is white history. I was born in the 60's and we learned very little about any other race besides whites. In the 70's we began to learn about black history, but it was so watered down. In the 80's they gave us a few chapters on slavery and MLK. Most of my knowledge of Black history and other's history, including woman came from my own research and Simmons College. Instead of focusing on a month, we need to incorporate the history of all Americans into our education curriculum.

There isn't a White History month because this is the history that is always taught in schools, its always at the center of attention. So that is why there is Black, Asian, and Native American Hisotry month, because you don't hear about these histories and much as you hear about our Caucasian counterparts.

Because there is no such thing as "white" history. There is Irish history, there is Lithuanian history, there is Russian history, there is Swedish history, etc. -- there is no common history that all pale people share.

On the other hand, most black folks in the United States share a history related to slavery. "White history" is, more or less, just called "history," for good or for ill. To dedicate a specific month to it would be silly. We are in a white dominated culture (at least in the U.S.). It doesn't need to be acknowledged, because it is CONSTANTLY acknowledged. It is the norm.

i recognize you're British, Martian (it truly is all too glaring) and to be straightforward i do not imagine we ought to continually have black heritage month right here. In u.s. certain, yet as familiar Britain ought to replica the U. S. with in spite of it does. we do not have an analogous heritage right here so it truly is not good to propose something that would not particularly stick with. interior the united kingdom we've particularly purely had black people right here because the 1960's and asian people (as they are talked about as on right here) purely particularly lately. we do not have the different heritage particularly, except white heritage. i'm taking heritage for GSCE (a nasty decision i recognize yet I wasn't going to do nutrition tech) and we learn British heritage (hint: because we are in Britain) mutually with the slave commerce and all that. And if i became in Italy or China or everywhere i might want to anticipate to benefit their heritage Why won't be able to u.s. tutor all american heritage and by no ability gloss over on particular parts? Then there might want to be no want for a majority of those months and perchance shall we be at peace and eat some cheesecake. King of londoN: you acquire particularly heated there. Whoo
