Youre rude, maybe she needs her job . Not everyone has a pension and so what she makes mistakes, so do 20 year olds. Get a grip and stop being such a jerk. Just do what you are supposed to and stop worrying about the 85 year old. It takes courage to be that old and still get up and go to work every day. Have some respect.

I'd rather see her working than fading away from boredom. If she makes mistakes, it just shows she's human. Do you get through your whole week without making a mistake? Start noting your own mistakes on a piece of paper, every one of them. By the end of the week, you'll be surprised at how many there are. Then stop and ask yourself how many seniors you know who could do your friend's job as well as she does. Make friends with her and maybe you will learn something about how to keep one job for a really, REALLY long time. Obviously, she knows something about how to do that.

Unless she's a real p-i-a personally, let her be.
I worked with a woman who was 72 and finally retired. You have to understand that older people can no longer retire if they are only receiving SS. They don't pay enough to live on.

Because she's making numerous mistakes-if management hasn't figured this out, well...she has just as much right to be there as anyone else.

Put yourself in her place, and maybe offer to help her or have management put her in a different position or retrain her.
If this were your mother or grandmother, would you want that kind of discrimination (age) placed on them ?

Not if she doesn't want to or can't afford to. As long as the management doesn't think she makes too many mistakes, she can stay. And for you, some others said it quite well; respect her, she has lived longer than you I assume and she has made it this far, good for her; age has no boundaries; you might even learn something from her.
