One thing you can probably try first is a system restore, For any Compaq made in the last couple of years all the files needed for a system restore are on a separate partition on the hard drive. At the compaq screen it will say to press f10 to do a system restore.

i imagine the most in all probability issues that it would want to be are as follows: one million) undesirable replica of XP. i might want to go away getting a sparkling replica for a later step, given the fee. 2) undesirable ability furnish. even as ability substances commence to weaken, the capacitors won't be able to take care of the ability calls for on your equipment, overheats and shuts down. i might want to both get a technician to envision this as a danger, or get a ability furnish tester ($10-$20 at a computing device furnish shop). 3) not user-friendly force is failing. once you've damaged sectors on your not user-friendly force, it would want to reason your computing device to close down. only replace it with a sparkling force. 4) might want to be that your RAM is undesirable. once you've more beneficial than one stick of RAM on your computing device attempt eliminating them one by one and then replacing them one by one, rebooting between each and every RAM stick you eliminate(till none are left to eliminate). And reboot between each and every stick you replace. (make sure you floor your self good, with the computing device unplugged, and call the metallic case remote from the motherboard). If it truly is the project, your computing device will supply up behaving badly once the undesirable stick is out. If this sounds somewhat previous what you experience you could do, you could take it in to a service middle and function the project fastened. wish this became effectual.
