I love PowerPoint, but I don't like the price for home use. It's part of Microsoft office, and usually costs over 200 dollars. You can get knockoffs for much less. Although they don't have all the features, they can create and play programs that can be viewed in Microsoft Office, or display programs created by Microsoft office. It's a slide-show presentation program created for business I think, but also great for home, family presentations. I have the genuine Power Point at work, and a knockoff at home :) Best Wishes

Powerpoint is a presentation-making program from the famous office-suite program from Microsoft, Microsot Office. Micorsoft Office contains, in addition to Powerpoint, other programs such as a word processor (Word), a spreadsheets program (Excel), a database management program (Access) and so on.
You can use Powerpoint to create slide presentations, like for example, if you want to introduce an idea or a product. Powerpoint has great functionality and some great animation effects (text swivelling, flipping etc). You can also add images, movies, flash movies and a lot of other multimedia to make your presentation interesting and visually stunning.
Powerpoint comes with the Microsoft Office, the latest version of which is Office 2003 (office11). It is, of course, paid software. If you don't have the money to spare and don't advocate software piracy, you can get OpenOffice.org, an open-source office-suite which contains equivalent programs (The presentation program in OpenOffice.org is called Impress).
You can download OpenOffice.org from any popular software download website, like download.com.

you get ir by buying Microsoft Office.
Powerpoint: In Microsoft Office PowerPoint, as in most other presentation software, text, graphics, movies, and other objects are positioned on individual pages or "slides". The "slide" analogy is a reference to the slide projector, a device which has become somewhat obsolete due to the use of PowerPoint and other presentation software. Slides can be printed, or (more usually) displayed on-screen and navigated through at the command of the presenter. Slides can also form the basis of webcasts.
