Loved it. Saw it on DVD. Took DVD back to Blockbuster and bought a copy. Everyone should see this movie! But only if they really want to, of course.

I noticed that the film was set in England, possibly to avoid giving the impression that it was an attack on the man who currently occupies the White House. (I'm getting tired of calling him the president and refuse to do it anymore. I need a new term, The Moron seeems accurate but unkind--to decent morons anyway. Perhaps the Usurper. Nah, I'll just stick to the Shrub.) Nonetheless, if anyone were planning a movie attacking theShrub, they could not have done better.

The hero, V, strikes me as a combination of John Galt, Edmond Dantes, the Phantom of the Opera, Robin Hood, Zorro and perhaps the Scarlet Pimpernel, all rolled into one package. The movie may be the last gasp of the grand tradition of French Romanticism exemplified by such classics as The Three Musketeers, The Man in the Iron Mask, Les Miserables, et al.

I have to congratulate Hugo Weaving on his performance and on his courage in taking a role in which his face was never revealed. Very self-sacrificing for an actor. Quite a gamble, but in my opinion, it worked.

Favorite quote from the bonus features: "Remember, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."

Favorite quotes from the movie:

"Remember, remember the 5th of November."

"People should not be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people."

And we all say, "Amen."

From now on, the fifth of November will be celebrated as a universal holiday chez moi. I won't be blowing up Parliament, but Congress should watch out at the next elections.

I apologize if the opinions expressed here offend any readers, but they are my honest opinions and I stand by them. And for all those Shrub fans out there--please READ the Constitution, with particular attention to the Bill of Rights. The Declaration of Independence is also well worth a look as it tells us what recourse the people have when our rulers start acting like the Shrub.
(Hint) When reading it is best to have your eyes open.

Respectfully submitted,
