There are many opportunities for ppl to work online nowadays and earn some extra money, by making deir own websites, thru ebay, survey opportunities, proofreading and translation, Freelance writing, Data Entry and so on..

However, there are many scams operating on the net and one needs to be careful and not get scammed!

Some widely used resources for checking companies are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the national fraud center (www.fraud.org).

These days, you can easily find out more about a company using the Internet in a few minutes. From a company's website, you can get details about its ownership, how old the company really is and feedback from the company's customers.

You should always find more detailed information about a company and check whether its a scam or not before joining any kind of job/survey online at

My son was a preemie and I stayed home until he was 16 months, then decided to get a nanny job. It was a lot of fun. My son got a playmate and I made about $700 a month. BTW: Nanny jobs do NOT require obtaining a childcare license because you are not actually watching the children in your own home. You normally go to the parent's home. I did bring the children to my home if I had to wait for a repairman, or was really backed-up on laundry or dishes, but other than that I was at the parent's home.

With a computer at home and internet connection, you can start earning from home, without any investment. You should choose your work at home job according to your skills and time available.

Medical Transcription is probably your answer.
If you can use Word or other types of computer programs, MT pays pretty good money for stay at home moms.

There are classes available ove the web, or you can check out your local community college where you can get the classes done in 6-9 months.

If you are a single mom, you probably qualify for money for college from your local DES/Workforce Development in your town, or thru a pell grant from college.

Good Luck !

You could try affiliate marketing, most programs are free to join but anything worthwhile and moral will take some work. The fact is, people make big money on the internet as affiliates, why can't it be you? Applying the information will allow you to earn an income within hours, without spending money.

I purchased a book from someone who sounds like alot like you. The book, inexpensive by the way, was written by a young, single, pregnant (when she started), woman named Holly Mann who gives a no-nonsense look at starting your own business. She gives exact details on how to start with no money and unlike other programs doesn't tease you to buy more expensive products. Her information is complete and easy to understand.

The truth is without a list of your strengths and weakness that would be an impossibility, but have you thought about these:

Day Care Center- you could have the local working moms drop off their kids on the way to work and pick them up on the way home.
Laundry - you could have your neighbors drop off their shirts on the way to work and pick them up on the way home.
Candy Lady-bake homemade fudge. Chocolate sells.
Telecommute-work on your computer at home and email your "assignments" back at the end of the day.

Most states you'll need a license and regular inspections. But that's the price you pay.

Well, you could make & sell jewelry and host parties (or another craft). You could become a travel planner. You could become a phone-sex operator (but only if your children are really heavy sleepers - lol JK). You could do telesales. You could tutor or watch kids. You could stuff envelopes.

What do you like to do? There's something for everyone, you just need to find something that doesn't conflict with your ability to take care of your children and that you can picture yourself doing.

I know it doesn't give you any clear direction, but there are endless opportunities, you just need to find the one that you want to do or can see yourself doing (and doing well).
