My daughter was like that from birth up until 7 months. There's not a lot you can do about it, unfortunately. The books say during the night you should avoid stimulating them by playing and singing. But this never worked for me. She was up every few hours anyway, so I just tried to ride it out. I didn't get a lot of sleep. Eventually she learned herself to sleep for longer periods. Don't feel like you're the only one going through it! Hang in there. P.S. Try to nap every time your baby does and let the housework go. Trust me, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble!

Yes, unfortunately this is normal. Every baby is different but most adjust within a few weeks. I have a 6 week old and by the 3rd to 4th week she was sleeping more consistently at night. Now, she sleeps a 4-5 hour stretch at first, then about 3 hours after that. Be patient and take lots of naps. Ask for help if you need it.

Is this your first baby? Are you breast feeding or bottle feeding? How often do you feed him? Babies have tiny tiny tummies, and need to awaken often to be fed after about the first week. (The days immediately after birth are often spent in idyllic recovery sleep--but it's rare that they last long.)
The baby will eventually assume a pattern of sleeping during the times that the rest of the household sleeps, but until he is much bigger, you should expect that he will awaken often! Patience, Momma! You will never do a more important job than that of raising a human being!

he will get his day and nights mixed up for a while but you can get him into the habit by setting up a bedtime routine nothing too extravagant just get him into his night clothes lay him in his crib and say goodnight to him and have the room semi lit that should get him started but remember that newborns do not know the difference between night and day ok so just have patience

With a bit of common sense here. Try not let the child sleep a lot during the day. But remember all new baby spend most of their time sleeping. Lift the child up and try to introduce new sleep patten for the baby.

Try not to let the baby sleep all day. At night keep the room as dark as possible. I did everything in as little light as possible and tried to stay as calm and quiet.Don't watch t.v. or listen to loud music. My sons usually slept downstairs, in another room during the day. I vacuumed, ran d.w., did laundry .......At bed time we went into quiet mode.

i did no longer do something particular: My toddler mandatory to nurse plenty that that took up maximum of her waking time anyhow. At night, I allowed toddler to chill out on my chest, at the same time as i replaced into snoozing, during the day I had her in a sling or a bassinet.

You cannot start training the baby to sleep before he is 40 days, it is too early now, give it time he will reschedule his program.
