As EMT in central NYS we were encourged to study 3hrs for every 1 hour of classroom time. Know your text book inside and out. We have to frist take a practial exam ( hands on. splints, backboards,KED ect.) If we pass that a written exam is given (the following week) If you paid attention in class, studied hard and asked questions, you will do fine. The next step is we have to wait 4-6 weeks for the test results. Our EMT cert. is good for 3yrs.....then we have to re-cert. Good Luck on your test..you will do find. Now get off the internet and hit the books. :)

It is all multiple choice. I would suggest that you focus on the terminology. If you know what all the words mean, you can make educated guesses at any questions you don't know.
As far as how hard it is, well...that depends on how much you studied. The more you study, the easier the test is. I suggest you study in groups and alone. Study for about twice the amount of time that you have spent in class and you should do alright.
I took the test in NY

The last time I took it they focused mainly on Book stuff. That is 100% true.
Scene size up, BSI, Response to terror and you, ICS and Control and Command. Then there were about 15 scenario questions on different runs.
Overall I would say about 90% hard, if you listened to the instructor then you will be OK. I took it in Indiana.
