Well are you referring to public of private? Most public schools require only a few things, a set of P.E. clothes, a yearbook, directory, possibly some sort of donation, and money to play sports. You would have to buy books, depending on the school, but you would need those for home school too. Lunch is cheap, probably under 5 bucks a day, maybe less. And you would need clothes whether you went to school or stayed home. (unless you feel like wearing your pajamas for a year) You would also save a lot on gas, which is a plus, because during the time you are homeschooled (assuming there is a set time) neither you nor your parent would be using a car. If the parent is already a stay at home, there would be no deficit there. If the parent already has a job, homeschool is much costlier. Private school, unless you expect the cost of homeschool materials to exceed somewhere around 8000 or so dollars, is more expensive. Not to mention the estimated 400-500 on mandatory uniforms, plus another of that for after school and weekend clothes. I think that from a monetary standpoint, a public school and homeschool are pretty similar. From a social/emotional standpoint, unless you hate everyone in your school, have absolutely no coordination and no interests, homeschool is costlier. Also, if you are a nerd, i guess that doesn't matter, but school is more of a social place than an educational place, sadly. If you are looking for a better quality of education and less distractions, homeschool is good. But if you would miss the people and the clubs, sports, texting answers across the room (just kidding). Then homeschool is probably not so good. It's really a personal descision, but from a monetary standpoint, homeschool and Pub. School are pretty even, although homeschool may cost more because i don't know the necessary materials and how much they cost.

Homeschooling is more expensive, especially if you consider that fact that one parent has to stay home and not earn money.
