I have a DSL Modem, and i was wondering, if i get a Wireless Router and the Adapter, do i also need to buy a CAT/Ethernet cord to go with it or can i just use the one that comes with my DSL Modem. In other words, does the Wireless Router operate like a DSL Modem just by itself and that the only difference is that i can also use it to connect another computer.

if you are moving to wireless, you will need to have the ethernet cable to attach the wireless router to the DSL modem. the only exception is if you purchase a router/modem combination.

but if you purchase a router only, then you will have to connect the wall to the DSL modem with the telephone cord, then the DSL modem to the wireless router with the ethernet cable.

if you have trouble staying connected to the internet, be advised that you may have to change your DSL modem and/or your router's settings. right now, it is likely that your DSL modem is assigning your IP address to your computer. a wireless router out of the box usually comes configured to do that same task, and the two pieces of equipment may conflict. you may have to change your DLS modem's settings to be passive and let the wireless router control everything, and then change your wireless router's settings so that it will correctly log onto your ISP's network.

it's a bit of a pain, but tech support should be able to talk you through it.

Not sure who your service provider is but Verizon delivers a modem with both a 4 port switch and wireless capability built-in. You might want to check with your provider to see if such an option is available before investing in lots of accessories you may not need. Also, ask them (or read through your documentation) about what features are provided with the modem you currently have.
