Why do doctors come up with the most annoying and inconvenient tests on the planet for pregnant women? How 'bout that 3-hour glucose test? Gah!!! I can't wait till this whole thing is over. Whoever said pregnancy is a beautiful time in a woman's life.... must've been a MAN!

Don't get me wrong, ladies... pregnancy is wonderful. It's just not all sunshine and rainbows like on Birth Day and a lot of those other shows on TLC.

You never see one of those ladies peeing in a cup all weekend and storing it in the fridge, or getting all warm and fuzzy about flaming hemorrhoids, or dry-heaving over the toilet every morning or getting upset when she pisses herself for the third time in a day.

So YES, I know it's all about BABY, I'm just sayin'...

What they are checking is to see if protein is in your urine. I had to do the same procdure with my son. All you have to do is to keep your urine for 24 hrs. and then take it back to wherever your doctors tell you to take it. This test will determine if you are going to devolop preclampsia/toxemia. If it comes back over 4000 to 5000 more than likely they will put you on bedrest. And if it is over 6000 they will deliver the baby. Hope this helps, cause I have been there too...

The tests are necessary to make sure your baby is doing ok. Yes I had to take the 24-hour Urine test because there was some protein in my urine and they wanted to make sure that it wasn't toxemia. Everything turned out fine with that though.

I had to do the one hour glucose testing, then they scheduled me for the 3 hour one because the first one didn't go so well. What they're doing is testing your blood sugar. Mine didn't go so well with the 3 hour glucose test, they diagnosed me with Gestational Diabetes and sent me to a nutritionist and a nurse to put me on a special diet and teach me how to test my blood sugar.

Ever since, my blood sugar had been within the appropriate range.

The tests may be annoying, but it's a small price to pay for what you get in the end.....a beautiful healthy baby!

In my opinion i think pregnancy is a very beutiful thing, just think there is your baby boy/girl inside of you, growing. These are simple tests your going to have to go through, but just wait until the baby's born then you have the test of life. Which failure is not an option, so enjoy your baby, you have to take how many of these tests? I'm not sure what you mean by 24 hr urine test, but glucose test i only had one of-but then again mine i only had to wait an hour. Be patient these tests arnt going to be everyday for the rest of your life.....

Omg, I had to try this additionally. as a results of fact I had protein in my urine and because i became into having speedy weight earnings. Gosh it is terrible! They gave me a brilliant ol' jug! and that i did no longer even fill it to the midway mark and that i became into ingesting water all day long! it is spectacular you ought to fill that total subject!!!! don't be disturbing nevertheless. they are looking for massive quantities of protein on your urine. to be sure how your physique digests water and fluids, etc. i think of they positioned a chemical interior the jug and then try it for protein yet i'm no longer precisely specific. Mine became out regular, btw. Drink lots of water!

I know its frustrating but if you remember that everything you're doing is to make sure you have a healthy baby - its a little easier.

Also, are you working with a midwife at all? I didn't have one with my first child, but I did with the other two and it made a world of difference in how much my input was considered and respected.

Best wishes on a healthy, happy child!
