Personally, I'll read anything. However, one thing that doesn't impress me are religious and theological books that impart the belief that everyone else is wrong, unless you follow this proscribed way of belief. Life is subject to personal interpretation.

I'm not all that interested in sci-fi and fantasy. I've tried to read some over the years, but I never really like them. Except for page-turners like Harry Potter, I usually have to force myself to finish them.
I also tend to stay away from self-help, true crime, books written by cable news commentators, mysteries and thrillers. I prefer books about history - either biographies of historical figures (especially women and authors), social histories and novels with historical themes.

I like biographies if the person is interesting enough. One genre I don't read is romance; otherwise I read just about anything.

Hardcore fantasy, like Terry Brooks and Tad Williams.
Really really girly books, unless I'm in the mood for them.

Science Fiction. They just get out of date as humans invent new objects.

Two words: chick lit.
You know, the frilly pink "girl books" that are supposedly written for the average female. I guess I'm just not average, because those books disgust me.

Can't stand romances, no substance. Pretty much like what you read and archaeology, new inventions, mystery, thriller, historic thrillers, weird whodoneit's.
