People talk about bad teams in baseball. Royals, Pirates, etc. But why doesn't anyone verbally pound on a team that hasn't had a record above .500 in 14 seasons. That team should be eliminated from the league. They are about 6 games below .500 this year too. And they aren't getting any better.

I understand your frustration. (really, I do. As a Tiger fan we went through 12 years of not finishing above .500)(This season would have been 13, had it not been for Jim Leyland).

I think the biggest problem there is ownership (most notably who "used" to own them. Bud Selig).

Check out this article and site on the Brewers. After years of futility they finally have a good young team but don't have a payroll deep enough to absorb injuries to Ben Sheets, Weeks, Koskie, Hardy and under production by Jenkins, etc.

Power Shortage for Brewers:
When the 2006 season began, the Milwaukee Brewers expected to derive a major portion of their run production from corner outfielders Carlos Lee and Geoff Jenkins. Lee was traded to Texas on July 28 and the slump-ridden Jenkins finally was removed from his starting role last Friday.

Throw in injuries to the likes of Rickie Weeks and Corey Koskie and are there any questions as to why the Brewers' offense has gone stagnant?

"Yes, there's some validity to that but still, you've got to find ways to get it done," manager Ned Yost said.

Such as hit with runners in scoring position. In losses to Atlanta on Sunday and Pittsburgh on Monday, the Brewers were a combined 3 for 23 in those situations.

Getting runners on base has not been the problem. Getting them in has. In the 16 games after Lee was traded, the Brewers scored 58 runs, an average of 3.6 per game.

Without Lee and Jenkins in the lineup, the Brewers have relied on shortstop Bill Hall (26 homers, 61 RBI) and rookie first baseman Prince Fielder (22, 59) to supply most of the pop. Entering play Tuesday, that duo had combined for 12 of the Brewers' last 18 homers.

Fielder was having a rough trip, however, batting only .188 (3 for 16) with a homer and one RBI over the first four games. And Hall was batting only .235 with two homers and three RBI over his previous 10 games.

Yost and hitting coach Butch Wynegar both agreed that Koskie has been missed more than people might suspect. Before going down with a concussion on July 5, Koskie was batting .261 with 12 homers and 33 RBI in 76 games. He also was a steadying influence in the field (seven errors) as well as a quiet quipster in the clubhouse.

Beyond production the Brewers lost in trading Lee, they also lost a veteran who knew how to shake it up off the field. Annoying at times? Perhaps. A knack for keeping teammates loose? Absolutely.

"I agree with what we did with the trade and I like the guys we got in return," Wynegar said. "But I think we've missed Carlos more than we thought we would. He had a presence, sometimes a loud presence."

Sort of like the sand an oyster needs to produce a pearl.

Are you insane? The brewers are in 3rd place in THEE hardest divison. You wait, Fielder and Weeks are going to become premiere players. Go jump on the tiger band wagon everyone.

Because the brewers need a better team overall.

Well i agree that you are frustrated, but its not really there players. Any player can be a good player, It all needs to change first by getting a new manager.

I'm surprised they're not doing better. I'm a Met fan, and they gave the Mets a very tough time when they met earlier this season.
