Reincarnation is not accepted in any way in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a belief spawned by the devil to lead people away from the Plan of Salvation as presented by the Father in the Council of Heaven before anyone was born.

I've heard that 70% of the world's population believe in reincarnation. How reliable that statistic is I have no idea. But most religious scriptures do speak of being reborn or giving examples of someone who used to be known as someone else. It depends on how one reads the holy books.

Reincanation is accepted, so far as I am aware, by every religious system except Christianity. Even within Christianity one of the Church Fathers, Origin, wrote about it in his work 'Peri Archon' [On the Beginning]' but it was condemned.
ADDENDUM: Not only has it been present in Islam but in Judaism it is called 'Gilgulim' and is a standard belief of Orthodox Jews.

Only in Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism leaves itself open to it but it has its own ideas. Sufism, although a branch of Islam has dabled with the idea. But overall the monotheist religions deny its possibility.

It is in Hinduism and its offshoots, e.g. Buddhism and Jainism, but it's not in the offshoots of the ancient Hebrew Elohim worship: Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Mormonism. They say there is only one life, and then, it's one of two or three places for eternity. The Hindu system has its advantages. One gets as many chances as he needs to achieve nirvana.

It's very common in eastern religion and philosophy; there are some branches of esoteric Christianity that accept it as a possibility; some indigenous beliefs also include it.
