i'm only 20, but in high school i was into art pretty hardcore and this is when i started feeling pains in my hands and wrists. I also played bass guitar for a few years. When i turned 18 i worked in factories doing manual labor, using hand sanders, etc. now i will have pain radiating from my wrist to the tips of some of my fingers, or from my elbow to my wrist, or just in my wrist, but it is painful almost every day. sometimes my arm from elbow to hand will go numb and tingly and it's almost enough to make me crazy! i can hardly lift up my daughter's bum by her legs when i am changing her diaper and it is difficult to hold her for a long time unless my arms are supported... is it worth going to a doctor for - will they just tell me what's wrong with me or is there something that can help it?

Sounds like a combo of carpel tunnel and tennis elbow, usually numbness or tingling in your pointing finger thumb and middle finger are signs of CT. The Dr. will run a test to determine that's what is may or may not be. Sometimes CT will go up toward your elbow as well. Weight gain and loss as well as repetitious wrist movement can account for CT. Get it checked out, in the meantime get a wrist brace and or arm brace you can wear just below your elbow.
Best of luck!

You are displaying the classic symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. It involves entrapment of a nerve and sorry to say is a surgical problem. Surgery corrects the problem. Since it affects your ability to do activities of daily living, it is significant enough to go for the surgery. Shop around and get the best in the field in your area. I hope you get relief soon

That doesn't sound like carpal tunnel. CTS usually begins with a tingling or numbness in only the thumb, index, and middle fingers. I'd get it checked out.

It sounds more like carpal tunnel, however, not all carpal tunnel is due to overuse. Did you have pregnancy related diabetes, or pregnancy related carpal tunnel when you were carrying your daugher? Do you have a family history of diabetes?

Go to the symptoms link at www.hufa.org and find the link for pain/carpal tunnel. It may convince you to try an anti-hypoglycemic diet for 3 weeks to see if it helps.

It did me. E-mail me if you wish

Try seeing a chiropractor. If your arm/hand are going numb and tingly, it sounds like a nerve or could be. An MD will only prescribe pill that don't work or want to operate that won't help.

You should try ginkgo to increase blood flow and Turmeric and Bromelain for inflammation. Increasing blood flow to the area with a poultice of moist ground Ginger will promote healing also.
