I know there have been Q&A on this but I really want to see the speed of Internet connections from different places and how much are you paying for it?

I don't want just "very fast" or "slow" answers. Please earn your 2 points! I want details - your plan (unlimited access, hours usage etc.), the price and type (dial-up, cable, dsl etc.).

Mine is a DSL (ADSL2) line at 10Mbps, unlimited hours for USD43 a month.

I had dial-up with unlimited access. $10/month. Everything is slow -- access to internet, movement, downloads, and your telephone is "in use" while you are on the internet. Any callers will get a busy signal.

Now I have cable. $50/month. Costly, yes, but I am on the internet with a click. The only thing slowing me down is the site on the opposite end. Downloads and backups which would take 1/2 hour, now take a couple of minutes. Unlimited access, and your telephone is not in use. It's like having a second phone. I'm not happy with the price, but fortunately my wants are simple and this is my treat.

Most major internet service providers will keep their service the same around the country. Additionally, most cities have contracts with phone companies or cable companies of which these internet service providers reside with. So for me in Minneapolis, I have Time Warner cable which runs Road Runner. I pay the standard rate of $44.95 a month for 5 MB internet.
