Hang on ... so you're sitting there on the bog thinking about life with your trousers down when, all of a sudden the door gets broken down, armed geezers in gas masks etc come storming in, the dog barks so they shoot that, they shove whoever else is in the house up against the wall holding guns to their head, your girlfriend (thinking she's gonna get raped) jumps out of the window and breaks her neck (not that it matters because they shot her on the way down anyway) the goldfish bowl accidentally gets knocked off the tv and so the tv blows up, these geezers think they are under attack and so shoot EVERYTHING in sight, including the sap up against the wall, the goldfish dies too incidentally - fried by the telly, in the meantime they have dragged you off the throne with shite all across your hands and bum as you tried to hurriedly wipe it and, in full view of the neighbours, club you into the back of their van, you suffer several major fractures and further notice that your trousers are now irrepareably stained, in the meantime water from the shot-up main water pipe is spewing everywhere, the tv fire has caught a gas pipe alight and all your possessions (the ones that aren't being ruined by water) are now being blow-torched by the gas-pipe fire, after a cursory examination the geezers realize they have got the wrong house, but fit you up anyway, so you get four years for possessing firearms and crack cocaine, as a result of which the only living thing to escape the carnage that was your house, the stick insect you keep in a jar under your bed, starves to death.
Right?
And all you can fcuking worry about is the front door?

SWAT is US, so I don't know; in the UK if you're innocent for thr reason they broke your door down then yes they do - usually a company they have on contract. Either that or your insurance should cover it. If you're guilty - then no.

There usually is a procedure to claim damages from the police department, but the easiest action is to file a calim with your insurance company (you do have homeowners or renters insurance, right?) and let them deal with the paperwork.

I think they do...
My brother in law knows someone in the army in the Middle East, whose job it is to go to homes they've raided and repair them.
Its weird and I don't remember why they do that.

Great question. I would think that the answer would be no, until you sue them if you are found innocent. But I really don't know.

Only if you're found to be innocent and they had no reason to break it down. Otherwise, it's fine.
