Sitting 10 years Smokes bad Advise needed.....?

Question

I have a 67 Ford with a 390 the old girl has sit for 10 years without being started. I changed the oil and fuel after a while she started. But, smokes bad, I mean blue LA smog stuff. When it was parked She didn't smoke at all. I think it's a collaped ring but, I'd like to try some engine cleaners and or solvents before I give up and rebuild the motor. Anyone have any suggestions?

I chaged the oil, coolage, fuel and plugs and wires.
I disassembeled and cleaned the carb, New points cap rotor and condenser. Replaced all the vacuum lines. Got a new battery and after a bit and some starting fluid she ran. The engine runs pretty smooth but, smokes.

could be a ring on the piston stuck,or valve stem seals, or the motor may just be tired.

I know this sounds like a joke. The product I use is Marvel Mystery Oil It comes in a red quart tin can might be plastic now while running pour a little down the carburetor. Rev the old girl up and Flood out the engine with Marvel oil let it chug and die out turn off the key. Let the engine sit in oil over night pour the rest of Marvel oil in the tank. If anything rings are rusted and stuck. When starting floor the throttle when it starts let back slowly marvel oil smokes too but smells different. But don't forget the biggest foggier by far is burning brake fluid that is inside the vacuum brake booster. Master Cly could have leaked filling the booster full of brake fluid.

yes,,i own a repair shop in Tennessee,,and have bought a few old cars that had set for a while,,it may be a collapsed ring on it,,also all the gaskets and seals are going to dry rotted on it,,you will eventually have to build it,,especially a 390,,they were good engines but sitting did not help it any at all,,i have two of them,,in old cars that i have,,and i think i have them both sold,,good luck with yours,,i hope this help,s .

Marvil Mystery Oil squirted into the plug holes is your best bet. GOOD LUCK, and get yourself some lead additive before you burn those valves. It would be a real good idea to replace those valves if you have to pull those heads because unleaded gas doesn't burn as evenly, so later model valves MUST be resistant to much hotter "spots"under cumbustion.

dude your gonna need a rebuild. Before you started it up (I would have ) taken all plugs out and squirted trans fluid in each cylinder( at leats 2 times) changed the oil and oil fileter, fuelfilter.And shoot the plugs with some brake cleaner, and fire it off,but that's just me

You'll probably have to rebuild the engine. The seals are dryed out and the rings worn.

try an oil change again,only this time put in a bottle of LUCAS oil treatment,It's a great product,white bottle,red and blue writing on it,available at any major auto parts store about $10.

i think blue smoke normally means that it is burning oil....when an engine sits, then the seals and gaskets tend to dry out...leaving a car sit is generally the worst thing that can be done to it.

it doesn't sound good....

but my mechanic friend relies on a product called "lucas"...

change the oil and coolant put it fresh gas it should stop. if not its probably valve guild seals. also check the timing and plugs timing can do that to
