Can anyone tell me how I can get rust stains out of some of my clothes. I'd done a load of washing and put some to dry on the radiator (it said not to tumble dry on label) and when I took them off there were rust marks on them which I can't get out.

Can anyone help?

Try these techniques :

Small stains may be removed with a few drops of a commercial rust remover, or by repeated applications of lemon juice and salt on the stain. Do not let dry between applications.

Rinse thoroughly and launder with a liquid laundry detergent and oxygen bleach, following directions.

If safe for fabric, boil in solution of 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar per pint of water. Rinse thoroughly.

Use Whink rust remover, available at the hardware store. It's made to use on fabric.
Also, for set in, tough stains try this: In the washer on small load, mix 1/2 cup Biz detergent and 1/2 cup Dawn dishwashing liquid in hot water. Put item in and leave to soak for a day or longer. Stir or agitate every once in awhile. Rinse.

The only thing I know that wil get out rust stains is a chelating agent such as Ethylene Diamine tetraAcetic Acid diSodium salt also called Disodium EDTA. You may be able to get some from your local chemist's if they are one of the old fashioned sort or a garden centre (its also used on earth) mix up a solution & soak

This only works for white material. Ask your chemist for oxalic acid crystals and follow instructions on label. If no instructions (sometimes a chemist will supply the crystals in a jar with a label stating the contents only) then make a solution with a small number of crystals and try it on a hidden part of the fabric. Soak the affected part of the fabric in a plate (or shallow dish) for a few minutes and watch it carefully. If no change then add a few more crystals. Rinse in plenty of cool water. You could ask the chemist for advice. Lay an old towel over the radiator next time or buy a clothes horse.

'Rust stains' yeah right.

If you really don't want the CSI guys discovering what you did you should burn the clothes and buy new ones.

Try lemon juice and sprinkle salt on the spots! If they are white try weak solution of bleach.
